Water Polo Colouring Page

Water polo is a fast team sport played in a swimming pool. Two teams move the ball by passing, dribbling it across the surface, and shooting toward a goal. In a standard match, each side normally has six field players and one goalkeeper in the water, although beginner games may use smaller teams and a smaller pool. Players are not allowed to stand on the bottom in ordinary deep-water play, so they swim and use a powerful eggbeater kick to keep their shoulders above the surface. Field players generally handle the ball with one hand at a time, while goalkeepers have special permissions near their own goal. A team works to create safe passing spaces, defend fairly, and score more goals than its opponent. Water polo combines swimming stamina, ball control, quick thinking, communication, and teamwork. Caps with ear guards help identify teams and protect the ears. Young players begin with simple treading-water games, short passes, and gentle shooting practice before learning full match rules. Because it is an aquatic contact sport, sessions need trained coaches, attentive lifeguards, suitable water depth, and rules that prevent rough play. Players should never hold another person underwater, and they should stop if someone needs help. Respectful athletes listen to officials, pass to every teammate, and shake hands after a game. This page shows two smiling children practising a pass rather than competing roughly. One holds the ball high while the other presents an open hand. A floating goal, lane edge, ripples, and watchful coach make the pool setting clear. Choose two team colours for the players' caps and swimwear, such as blue and yellow or green and orange. Keep the ear guards a lighter shade so their protective shape remains visible. A water-polo ball is often bright and easy to see, so try yellow with blue or purple curved sections. Colour the goal posts white or pale grey and the net a very light blue. Use turquoise across the pool, leaving white curves for shine and splashes. The deck tiles can be sandy beige, and the coach's shirt can match one team colour. Work slowly around the ball, fingers, cap ties, and net squares, then use longer strokes for the water. While colouring, imagine the receiving player calling for the pass and both children using steady eggbeater kicks beneath the surface. The friendly faces remind us that teamwork and safety are more important than the score.
