Toco Toucan Chick Peeking from a Tree-Hole Nest Colouring Page

A young Toco Toucan chick peeks from a rounded tree-hole nest with its head and upper chest above the lower rim. Its oversized but still-growing bill, fluffy crown, partly developed wing feathers and compact body identify a curious juvenile. The close view keeps the single chick easy to colour. How to colour: Use soft charcoal for the chick's crown, back and developing wings, leaving the throat and chest creamy white. Colour the eye ring pale sky blue and the iris deep brown. Blend the young bill from light yellow at the base through soft orange toward a small black tip, using gentler colours than an adult. Make the tree trunk warm tan, ochre and brown, with a dark chocolate interior inside the nest hole and emerald green leaves. Apply short fluffy strokes around the head and chest, smooth strokes on the new feathers and long broken marks along the bark. Keep a thin white highlight across the bill.
