Tennis Colouring Page

Tennis is a racket sport played across a net. The modern lawn game developed in Britain during the nineteenth century, building on much older racket-and-ball activities. One player can compete against one player in singles, or two players can form each team in doubles. Players strike a felt-covered ball so it lands inside the marked court. The ball may bounce once before it is returned. Points are won when the other side cannot make a legal return, but beginner sessions often use simple rally counts instead of full scoring. Smaller courts, lower nets, and softer balls help children learn comfortably. A tennis player practises ready position, forehand and backhand strokes, serves, movement, and careful aiming. The racket should be an age-appropriate size that a child can hold without strain. Comfortable shoes, a clear court, water breaks, and sun protection are important outdoors. Players check that nobody is close before swinging, collect loose balls so no one trips, and wait until the coach says it is safe to begin. Good tennis manners include calling the score clearly, being honest about lines, returning stray balls politely, and praising a partner’s effort. A long cooperative rally can be a wonderful goal because it teaches rhythm, patience, and control. The page shows two happy children sending one ball back and forth over a complete net. Begin with the tennis ball, which is usually bright yellow-green; leave its curved seam lines visible. Colour the racket frames in bold shades such as blue, red, purple, or turquoise, then use a very light grey or pale blue for the strings so the criss-cross pattern stays clear. Choose different shirt and shorts colours for each player, perhaps coral and navy for one and green and yellow for the other. The court could be blue, green, clay orange, or a creative rainbow surface with pale boundary lines. Colour the net posts dark grey and leave the net mostly white. Add several greens to the bushes and trees, and use blue around the fluffy clouds. Work slowly around the racket strings and ball, then use broad smooth strokes on the open court. You may add a tiny ladybug beside the baseline for a fun finishing detail.
