Tailorbird Leaf Nest Colouring

This educational page shows a tailorbird beside two large leaves pulled together to form a cradle for its tiny nest. Obvious stitch loops run along the leaf edges, and a plant fibre in the bird's beak shows how the natural sewing is done. Colour the tailorbird olive green and warm brown with a pale belly, then make the fibre golden tan. Use two or three bright greens on the leaves and a darker green along their veins. The small inner nest can be straw yellow and soft brown. Colour around every stitch loop carefully so children can follow the seam and see how the leaves protect the nest.
