Swallow Catching Insects in the Air Colouring Page

A swift swallow turns through the air with its short bill open as three tiny insects flutter just ahead. Its pointed wings curve through the turn and its forked tail spreads for control. The clear spacing makes both the hunting bird and the small insects easy to see. How to colour: Use glossy blue-black for the head, back and upper wings, chestnut red for the forehead and throat, and warm cream for the underside. Colour the forked tail dark navy with small white accents and the bill pale grey. Make the insects golden brown with touches of amber, keeping their wings very pale blue. Build the swallow with smooth strokes that follow the curve of flight, deepen the overlap between feathers, and colour each insect with a sharp pencil. Add faint sky-blue arcs behind the bird to suggest speed without filling the open sky.
