Softball Colouring Page

Softball is a bat-and-ball team sport related to baseball. It began in the United States in the late nineteenth century and is now played in many countries. The field has four bases arranged in a diamond, and teams alternate between batting and fielding. A batter tries to hit the ball and run around the bases, while fielders work together to make outs. In fastpitch softball, the pitcher throws underhand from a circular area using a smooth windmill motion. Softballs are larger than baseballs, and junior games may use softer training balls, shorter distances, and simplified rules. Players practise underhand pitching, catching, throwing, batting, base running, and communicating. Batters wear helmets, and catchers wear a mask, chest protector, shin guards, and a strong mitt. Fielders use gloves sized for their hands. Children should warm up, stay outside the bat’s swinging area, wait for the coach’s signal, and keep the field free from loose equipment. A pitcher focuses on balance and control rather than speed. Teammates call clearly for fly balls, back one another up, and cheer effort. Respecting the umpire and helping everyone learn are important parts of the game. The colouring scene shows a smiling pitcher sending a large softball toward a well-protected catcher. Make the ball bright yellow with red seam marks, or invent another easy-to-see combination. Colour the pitcher’s shirt and trousers in two team colours, then use matching touches on the cap, belt, socks, or shoes. Give the catcher a different palette so the protective mask, chest guard, shin pads, and mitt stand out. A mitt can be tan or brown, while the mask may be navy, purple, or dark green. Use sandy beige inside the pitching circle, green for the surrounding grass, and white for home plate and field lines. The fence can be pale grey and the sky gentle blue. Colour around the ball carefully so its flight remains clear. Broad strokes suit the open field, while small strokes help with seams and equipment straps. Add a few tiny flowers safely beyond the fence if you want extra colour without crowding the play.
