Snow Leopard Cub Colouring

Climb high into the mountains with a snow leopard and its fluffy cub! Snow leopards are native to the cold ranges of Central and South Asia, including the Himalayas and mountains across Mongolia, China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and nearby countries. They live on steep rocky slopes, alpine meadows, and high valleys, often thousands of metres above sea level. An adult's body is usually about 86 to 125 centimetres long, and its remarkable tail can add another 80 to 105 centimetres. Many weigh around 25 to 55 kilograms. In the wild they may live roughly 10 to 12 years, while some live longer in protected care. A snow leopard is perfectly built for a chilly, rocky home. Its thick pale coat provides warmth and camouflage. Wide furry paws spread its weight like natural snowshoes, strong back legs power long leaps, and small rounded ears reduce heat loss. The extra-long tail helps with balance on narrow ledges and can curl around the body like a scarf during rest. Snow leopards usually travel alone, but a mother cares for her cubs and teaches them to climb and hunt. They cannot roar like lions; instead, they may chuff, growl, hiss, or make a soft yowling call. Their large rosette markings are different on every animal, almost like fingerprints. This peaceful page shows the adult and cub sitting side by side on a safe stone ledge. Use very pale grey, creamy white, or light sandy beige for their coats. Colour the open rosettes charcoal grey or soft black, and keep the muzzle, chest, and belly lighter. Their eyes can be grey-green, amber, or icy blue. Shade the thick tails with long gentle strokes that follow the fur, then make the cub a little lighter to show its soft baby coat. The ledge can be slate grey, brown, or muted purple, while distant mountain peaks can remain white with pale blue shadows. Add green to the small alpine grass and a bright colour to any tiny flower. A clear blue sky, pink sunrise, or lavender evening will make the pair stand out. Colour slowly around the spots, leaving white spaces between them, and use stronger colour near paws and rock edges to give the scene depth.
