Scarlet Tanager Pair Page

A male Scarlet Tanager sings from the top of a woodland branch while the female sits closer to a small nest hidden safely among leaves. Colour the male brilliant scarlet red with dark black wings and tail. Give the female yellow-green or olive feathers with a softer pale belly. Make the nest tan and brown, the branch warm brown and the surrounding leaves several shades of green. You can add tiny blue, purple or red berries for extra colour. Start with the singing bird and nest, then work around the leafy hiding place carefully so the nest remains visible.
