Scarlet Macaw Visiting a Clay Lick Colouring Page

A scarlet macaw stands on a sloping rainforest clay bank and takes a small bite of mineral-rich earth. Its feet grip the uneven surface while folded wings and a long tail balance the bird. A few simple roots and leaves identify the natural riverside clay lick without crowding the scene. How to colour: Colour the macaw's head, chest and back vivid scarlet, its middle wing feathers golden yellow, and the outer wing and long tail royal blue. Keep the facial patch white, use warm ivory for the upper beak, black for the lower beak and medium grey for the feet. Layer the clay bank with terracotta, burnt orange, ochre and reddish brown, colour the exposed roots dark brown and the leaves emerald green. Use smooth directional strokes on the feathers, small circular strokes across the clay and a few darker marks in crevices. Keep the bird brighter than the bank so it stands out.
