Scarlet Macaw Bathing in Tropical Rain Colouring Page

A scarlet macaw enjoys a tropical rain shower while standing in a shallow rainforest pool. It spreads both wings, fans its long tail and lifts its head as large raindrops fall around the complete bird. Ripples, splashes, wet leaves and smooth rocks make the cheerful bathing action clear. How to colour: Use vivid scarlet red for the head, chest and back, golden yellow across the middle wing feathers, and royal blue on the outer wings and tail. Leave the facial patch white, colour the upper beak pale ivory, lower beak black and feet grey. Make the leaves glossy emerald, the rocks soft brown-grey, and the water and raindrops very pale blue with white centres. Start with light feather layers, deepen red and blue where wet feathers overlap, use crisp downward strokes for the rain and curved strokes around the ripples. Preserve small white highlights on the crown, beak and drops to suggest a fresh wet shine.
