Rugby Colouring Page

Rugby is a team sport played with an oval ball on a grass field. Its modern name and early organized rules are linked with Rugby School in England during the nineteenth century. Players run with the ball, pass it backward or sideways to teammates, and try to carry it across the opponent’s goal line for a try. Kicking can also move the ball or score points. Different forms, including rugby union, rugby league, and non-contact tag rugby, use related skills with different rules. Young children often learn through tag rugby, passing games, and carefully supervised drills before any contact is introduced. The page focuses on a safe passing practice. A rugby pass travels sideways or backward, so the receiver runs in support beside or behind the ball carrier. Players learn to hold the ball with two hands, look toward the target, swing the arms smoothly, and communicate. Comfortable sports clothing, suitable boots, a checked field, warm-ups, water breaks, and a trained adult are important. Contact versions require age-appropriate coaching and protective preparation; rough or unsafe play is never acceptable. Good rugby values include respect, discipline, honesty, courage, and teamwork. Players listen to the referee, help opponents up, and thank everyone after the match. This colouring page shows three smiling children practising a gentle pass with no tackling. Colour the oval ball tan, yellow, white, or a bright shade, and keep its curved seams visible. Choose one team palette for the shirts, shorts, and striped socks—perhaps green and gold, blue and white, or maroon and cream. You can vary the trim so each child looks individual while still belonging to the same team. Use fresh greens for the pitch and bushes, light grey or white for the H-shaped goalposts, and soft blue around the clouds. Keep the field markings pale so the figures and ball remain the focus. Start with large clothing shapes, then slow down around hands, laces, and ball seams. Add darker colour at sock stripes and shirt collars for contrast. A small flower near the sideline or gentle sun rays behind a cloud can finish the scene without hiding the clear passing action.
