Rooftop Santa Colouring

Santa has arrived on a snowy rooftop and stands beside a broad brick chimney with his gift sack over one shoulder. His boots are planted safely on the roof tiles, and a small fir tree and several stars make the night feel calm and wintry. Look at the curved top of the sack, the fluffy edges of Santa's coat and the open shape of the chimney. Count the rows of bricks and notice how the snow follows the roof line. This simple scene captures a favourite part of the Santa story: a quiet stop during a night of generous gift giving. It is a good opportunity to remind children that real rooftops and chimneys are not play areas and should only be viewed from a safe place. Start with Santa because he is the main character. Colour his suit bright red, deep burgundy, evergreen or royal blue, leaving the trim white or adding the faintest blue shadow. His belt and boots could be dark brown instead of solid black, with a golden or silver buckle. Make the sack warm brown, green or purple and add a darker shade along its folds to show that it is full. The chimney bricks can alternate two red-brown tones, while the mortar lines remain pale. Keep the rooftop snow white with cool blue only underneath its rounded edges. The sky can be pale for a snowy morning or layered navy, blue and purple for night. If you choose a dark sky, colour carefully around the stars so their white shapes stay crisp. Younger artists can use broad crayons on Santa, the sack and the open sky. Older artists may add gentle texture to the sack, small colour changes between roof tiles and a glow around each star. Use short strokes on fluffy trim and longer strokes on smooth fabric. Leave a little white highlight on Santa's belt buckle and boots. Colour the fir tree in simple green bands, then add pale blue snow along each branch. Finish by making the chimney easy to see against the sky. Your page should feel magical and still, with Santa pausing confidently before continuing his careful Christmas journey.
