Ribbon Elf Colouring Page

A playful elf has become gently tangled in one enormous curling gift ribbon. Wide loops sweep around the elf's body, but the smiling face, open hands and striped legs are still easy to see. A large bow lies in front, a ribbon spool sits nearby and two plain boxes wait to be wrapped. The small Christmas tree makes the wrapping corner festive. Follow the ribbon from the spool, around the elf and down to the giant bow. How many loops can you count? This funny scene celebrates laughter and staying cheerful when a simple job becomes muddled. It can also encourage children to pause, ask for help and untangle things patiently instead of pulling harder. Ribbons and cords should always be used with a grown-up nearby. Make the giant ribbon the boldest colour on the page. Bright red is traditional, but turquoise, purple, pink, gold or a rainbow stripe would look wonderful. Use a lighter version of the same colour on the high parts of each loop and a darker version where one strip passes behind another. Give the elf a contrasting outfit so the ribbon never disappears against it. A green tunic with red ribbon works well, as does a blue tunic with yellow ribbon. Colour the boxes in soft shades, the spool in a matching tone and the small tree green with simple bright ornaments. Trace each ribbon section with your finger before adding colour so you know which line continues where. Colour one loop at a time, always moving in the ribbon's long direction. Broad crayons suit the big bow and sweeping strips, while pencils help around the elf's hands, cuffs, belt and narrow overlaps. Younger artists can use one solid ribbon colour and keep the boxes plain. Older children can add polka dots or stripes to the ribbon, gentle shadows beneath overlapping loops and patterns on the empty gift boxes. Leave slim white highlights along the bow curves to make the ribbon look shiny. Avoid colouring the spool hole as part of the ribbon. Finish with calmer floor and wall colours, and let the completed page feel energetic, silly and safe, with the elf ready to laugh, ask a friend for help and continue wrapping Christmas surprises.
