Reindeer Feeding Colouring

Feeding time has arrived beside a cosy snow-covered stable. Two warmly dressed children hold out crunchy carrots for two gentle reindeer. One reindeer leans forward for a bite while the other waits calmly near the hay. The stable roof, open doorway, fir tree, and soft banks of snow create a welcoming winter home. This friendly moment introduces the Christmas tradition of caring for Santa’s hardworking reindeer. It also reminds children that animals need patience, kindness, fresh food, shelter, and quiet voices. The children are sharing the task fairly, and the reindeer look relaxed because they are being treated with respect. Take a careful picture walk before choosing colours. Can you count the carrots, antlers, hooves, coat buttons, and snowy roof shapes? Compare the curving antlers with the straight wooden boards of the stable. Notice the shaggy chest fur, smooth carrot shapes, fluffy hat pompoms, and long reindeer legs. These different outlines can inspire different colouring strokes. Broad crayons work well for the coats, stable walls, and snowy ground. Coloured pencils are useful for antler branches, carrot leaves, faces, and little clothing details. Younger colourists can complete one large area at a time, while older children can add gentle patterns to scarves, mittens, or saddle-free reindeer fur. Reindeer coats can be tan, chestnut, warm grey, cream, or a mix of natural browns. Use darker brown on antlers and hooves, then colour the carrots bright orange with leafy green tops. Try red, emerald, icy blue, or purple for the children’s winter clothes, making each outfit easy to tell apart. The stable might be honey brown with a deep red door frame, and the hay can be golden yellow. Keep most snow white, adding pale blue only beneath feet, along roof edges, and in a few curved shadows. Press lightly at first, then deepen colour near the outlines for a tidy, rounded look. Children may add tiny white highlights to the reindeer eyes and carrot surfaces. Finish by colouring the fir tree and imagining what healthy snack the reindeer will enjoy next. Every thoughtful colour can make this caring Christmas visit feel warm even on a snowy day.
