Rainbow Village Colouring Page

A little village rests beneath a wide rainbow in this friendly spring scene. The houses have simple roofs, windows, and doors, and a winding path connects neighbours across the hills. Two swallows fly above the rooftops after a passing shower. Rainbows form when sunlight shines through raindrops at just the right angle. The drops bend and reflect the light, separating it into a band of colours. A rainbow is usually seen in the part of the sky opposite the Sun, so people often spot one when the rain is moving away and sunshine is returning behind them. Spring rain helps village gardens, trees, and grass grow. It can fill wells, ponds, and streams that people and wildlife depend on. Swallows often live close to farms and buildings, where they may build cup-shaped nests in sheltered places. They catch flying insects while swooping through the air, making them useful neighbours as well as exciting birds to watch. Their long pointed wings and forked tails help them turn quickly. If you find a nest near a building, look quietly from far away and let the parents care for their chicks without disturbance. The path in the picture reminds us that a village is a shared place where homes, people, weather, and animals are connected. Colour the rainbow with bright bands, starting with red on the outside and moving through orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. You can give every little house a different friendly colour, such as sunny yellow, soft blue, warm peach, or pale green. Make the roofs red, brown, slate grey, or purple, and use darker shades around the doors and window frames. The rolling hills can mix fresh green with a few lighter patches where rain has made the grass shine. Swallows are often blue-black above with pale or rusty colours below; keep their wings dark enough to stand out against a light blue sky. Try smooth strokes on walls, strokes that follow the sloping roofs, and small curved strokes on the birds. Leave thin white highlights along the path and clouds. The rainbow should remain the brightest welcome home after the spring shower.
