Rainbow Castle Colouring Page

A smiling princess welcomes young artists into a flower-filled castle garden beneath a magnificent rainbow. The three-towered castle, flags, winding stone path, roses and tulips belong to a gentle fairy-tale world. The rainbow, however, is inspired by real weather. After a late-spring shower, sunlight can enter raindrops, bend, reflect inside them and spread into separate colours. The result looks like a bright arc across the sky. It is not a bridge that touches the castle, and its end cannot be reached. It appears in a particular direction from each viewer, usually opposite the sun. That mix of true nature and friendly fantasy makes the page a fun place for both learning and imagination. Spring rain supplies water to roots as roses form new leaves and tulips open from bulbs beneath the soil. Gardeners may use paths and low hedges to protect planting beds from busy feet. The princess in this picture can be imagined as a thoughtful garden helper who watches the weather, leaves blossoms for pollinators and asks an adult before picking flowers. Castle towers were once useful lookouts, while thick walls and strong gates helped protect the people inside. This castle has simple, broad shapes rather than tiny stone details so every tower, flag and window is easy for children to colour. Begin with the seven rainbow bands. A traditional order is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet from outside to inside, but a magical kingdom can have its own colour order. Give the castle pale grey, warm beige, pink or blue walls, then choose contrasting colours for the pointed roofs and flags. The princess's gown can be one favourite colour or several panels of purple, turquoise, rose and gold. Her crown may be yellow-gold or silver. Colour roses red, pink, yellow or peach and tulips in bright spring colours. Use two greens for hedges and leaves, and tan or light grey on the stepping stones. Soft blue clouds will keep the sky gentle. Long curved strokes fit the rainbow and gown, straight strokes suit towers, and small circles work inside rose petals. Leave white highlights on windows and petals so the garden looks newly washed by rain.
