Pole Vault Colouring Page

Pole vault is a specialised athletics event. An athlete runs down a runway carrying a long flexible pole, plants one end in a small box, and uses the pole’s bend and spring to rise over a crossbar. The vaulter releases the pole and lands on a very large padded mat. Pole-assisted jumping has existed in different forms for centuries, while modern competition uses carefully designed poles, standards, runways, and landing areas. Because the event requires precise coaching and equipment, children should never imitate it with sticks or try it without trained adult supervision. The page shows a young athlete wearing a helmet and holding the pole with both hands as it bends toward the bar. A coach watches from a safe position beside the runway. The crossbar, upright standards, plant box, and wide landing pads are all visible. Pole vault builds running rhythm, grip strength, coordination, courage, and awareness of body position. Safe vaulters inspect the pole, use the correct grip, make sure the landing mat is joined securely, and wait for the runway to clear. They stop a run if the approach feels wrong. Coaches choose a low training bar and an appropriate pole. Spectators remain outside the landing zone, and sportsmanship includes patient turns and respect for every attempt. Begin colouring with the athlete’s helmet so the safety equipment stands out. Match a small helmet stripe to the shirt or shoes. The long pole could be bright yellow, turquoise, orange, or purple; use a slightly lighter shade along one side to show its curved shape. Colour the standards silver-grey or another pale equipment tone, and give the crossbar alternating bright bands. The landing pads offer large areas for blue, red, green, or violet, with lighter tops and darker side panels. Make the runway warm red, cool blue, or tan, keeping the plant box and boundary lines clear. Add soft greens to the grass and bushes and light blue to the sky. The coach can wear calm neutral colours that do not compete with the vaulter. You may add a small equipment bag outside the runway. Keep the space around the pole mostly light so children can trace its full safe path from the box up toward the bar.
