Pickleball Colouring Page

Pickleball is a paddle sport invented in the United States in the 1960s. It borrows ideas from tennis, badminton, and table tennis, yet it has its own equipment and rules. Players use short solid paddles to hit a light plastic ball with round holes over a low net. The court is smaller than a tennis court. A special area close to the net is often called the non-volley zone, where players must be careful about hitting a ball before it bounces. Pickleball may be played by two people or by two pairs, making friendly communication very useful. The picture shows two children enjoying a simple rally. The large perforated ball, broad paddles, low net, and neat court lines make the sport easy to recognise. Pickleball develops tracking, gentle hand-eye coordination, footwork, aiming, and patience. Beginners can start by bouncing and catching the ball before learning short taps over the net. Safe players warm up, leave space between partners, hold the paddle securely without swinging wildly, and wait until the court is clear before serving. Eye protection can be useful, and children should always follow an adult’s instructions. Honest line calls, taking turns, and saying “good shot” show sportsmanship. Colour the children’s outfits first. Try two different shirt colours, then use matching accents on their socks, shoes, or paddle handles. The paddle faces could be red and turquoise, yellow and purple, or any pair of colours that contrasts with the ball. Leave the little holes in the ball white or shade them gently so the perforated design stays visible. Make the court a soft blue, green, or warm tan, with a lighter colour around the non-volley zone. The net cord can be a bold colour while the mesh remains pale. Use greens for the simple bushes and perhaps a light blue sky behind them. Keep the court markings crisp by colouring slowly beside the lines. Add a water bottle outside the court or a few tiny clouds if you want extra detail. When finished, the bouncing ball should be the clearest small object, guiding the viewer’s eye from one friendly player to the other.
