Panda Cub Colouring

Meet a giant panda and its cub enjoying bamboo together in a peaceful forest. Giant pandas come from the cool, misty mountain ranges of central China, especially parts of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu. Their thick coats help them stay warm, and their famous black-and-white markings make them easy to recognize. Pandas belong to the bear family, but their daily life is closely connected to bamboo. They use strong jaws and a special enlarged wrist bone, often called a false thumb, to hold and strip the stalks. An adult giant panda is usually about 1.2 to 1.9 metres long and may weigh roughly 70 to 120 kilograms, with large males sometimes heavier. Wild pandas often live around 15 to 20 years, while individuals cared for by people can live longer. A newborn cub is extremely small compared with its mother and has very little fur. It depends completely on her for warmth, milk, and protection. As the cub grows, it explores nearby logs and bamboo, plays, climbs, and gradually learns to eat solid food. Adult pandas are mostly solitary, so the mother-and-cub period is an especially important family chapter. For a classic panda, colour the ears, eye patches, shoulders, front legs, and back legs black, but use gentle strokes so the printed details remain visible. Leave the face and middle body white or add a very pale cream. You can also invent a storybook panda with charcoal grey or soft brown markings. Colour the bamboo stalks yellow-green, olive, or fresh green, then use several leafy greens to give the forest depth. Stones can be light grey, beige, or lavender-grey, and the tiny grasses may be spring green. Begin with the outlined panda patches so you do not accidentally darken the face. Use a black or dark-grey pencil in small layers rather than pressing hard immediately. Crayons work well on the large bodies and rocks, while fine pencils suit eyes, claws, leaf tips, and bamboo joints. Keep a white sparkle in each eye. When finished, the two pandas should stand out clearly from the bamboo and look ready for another crunchy snack.
