Mrs Claus Baking Colouring

Mrs Claus is preparing Christmas cookies in her cheerful kitchen. She presses both hands on the rolling-pin handles and spreads a smooth piece of dough across the counter. A mixing bowl waits nearby, star-shaped cookies have already been cut, and oven mitts are ready for a grown-up to use. A wreath, stockings and a small tree make the kitchen festive without hiding the baking action. Look at the rolling pin, count the star cookies and notice how the dough becomes wide and flat. This scene celebrates the tradition of baking for family, friends and neighbours. It can also begin a useful conversation about washing hands, measuring ingredients, sharing kitchen jobs and always asking an adult for help around hot ovens. Mrs Claus can wear a red dress and hat with white trim, or a cosy combination of green, burgundy, blue and cream. Give her apron a lighter colour so it stands out from the dress, and add a small pattern of dots or stars if you like. The dough could be pale golden beige, the mixing bowl bright blue or green, and the rolling pin warm wood brown. Make the wreath deep green with red berries and a colourful bow. The star cookies may be golden brown, or they can have different icing colours once you imagine them baked. Colour the largest areas first: Mrs Claus's clothes, the counter and the cabinets. Use shorter strokes on fluffy trim and long smooth strokes on the rolling pin and worktop. Younger artists can keep each kitchen object one clear shade. Older children can add wood grain, a checked apron pattern, darker colour beneath the dough edge and tiny sugar sprinkles on the finished stars. Keep the dough and counter different enough that the shape remains easy to see. Leave small white highlights on the glasses, bowl and cabinet knobs. If you choose warm browns and creams for the kitchen, the red and green decorations will stand out brightly. Work carefully around Mrs Claus's fingers so her safe grip on the rolling pin remains clear. The finished page should feel welcoming and busy, like a kitchen where careful work, delicious smells and generous sharing bring people together at Christmas.
