Long Jump Colouring Page

Long jump is an athletics event that combines a fast run, one strong takeoff, a flight through the air, and a safe landing in sand. An athlete runs along a straight runway and takes off from one foot near a marked board. The distance is measured from the takeoff line to the nearest mark made in the landing pit. Jumping events have very old roots, including competitions in ancient Greece, while modern long jump uses standard runways and carefully prepared sand pits. Young learners practise with short approaches and low, controlled jumps. The picture shows a smiling athlete in the air with both legs reaching toward the sand. The broad pit, takeoff board, runway, and small side flags make each part of the event easy to spot. Long jump can build speed, leg power, balance, and body control. Safe practice needs an adult, a raked pit without stones, secure shoes, and a gentle warm-up. Only one jumper should use the runway at a time. Other children wait behind the starting area, never in the pit. After landing, athletes walk out from the front or side rather than back across a fresh measuring mark. A careful, comfortable landing matters more than distance. Start with the athlete’s clothes, using a bright shirt and a contrasting pair of shorts. Repeat one colour on the shoes or socks. Choose varied natural colours for skin and hair, leaving small white highlights to keep the face cheerful. Colour the runway terracotta, blue, or grey and keep the takeoff board light so it remains visible. The sand pit can use warm yellows, creams, and pale browns. Follow the wavy sand lines with two close shades to show soft texture without filling every dot. Make the flags vivid, perhaps red and blue, and use gentle greens in the surrounding grass and bushes. A pale blue sky will frame the jumper without competing with the action. You can add a small measuring tape rolled beside the pit or a few footprints in the sand. Keep the area directly below the athlete light; the clear space helps the tucked legs, forward shoes, and safe landing direction stand out.
