Lioness Cubs Colouring

Meet a caring lioness and her two lively cubs resting in the cool shade of a wide acacia tree. Lions are native mainly to grasslands, savannas, and open woodlands across sub-Saharan Africa, while a small population of Asiatic lions survives in and around Gir Forest in India. A lioness usually measures about 1.4 to 1.8 metres from head to body before the tail is counted and may weigh roughly 110 to 180 kilograms. Wild lions often live for about 10 to 15 years, although some live longer when food and habitat are safe. Lions are the most social members of the cat family. They live in groups called prides, where related females often rest, hunt, and help watch over young cubs together. Cubs are born with faint spots that can fade as they grow. For their first weeks they stay hidden, and later they learn by following adults and playing with one another. On this page, the mother is relaxed while one cub stands close and the other stretches beside her. The spreading acacia canopy, open grass, rounded rocks, and distant hills suggest a sunny African savanna without making the picture too crowded. Start with the lioness and cubs. Try golden yellow, sandy beige, warm brown, or light orange for their coats. You can make the cubs' ears and paws slightly darker, add soft brown spots to their backs, and leave their chins pale. A tiny white sparkle in each eye will keep the family looking bright and friendly. Colour the acacia trunk with tan or reddish brown, then use several greens for the flat canopy and grass. The hills can be pale purple, dusty blue, or soft brown so the animals remain the main focus. Use crayons for the large bodies, sky, and tree shapes, then choose sharpened pencils for whiskers, toes, eyes, and small grass tufts. Colour in smooth strokes that follow the direction of the fur. Lions do not all look exactly the same, so your family may be honey gold, sunset orange, or an imaginative colour pattern. Take your time around the cubs' faces and turn this quiet savanna rest into a warm family masterpiece.
