Kingfisher Burrow Nest Page

This clever cutaway shows a kingfisher's hidden riverbank home. A long tunnel runs from a small hole in the bank to a round underground chamber containing eggs, while the parent waits outside with a fish. Colour the kingfisher turquoise, royal blue and warm orange, and make the fish silver with blue-green fins. Use sandy brown for the bank, darker brown for the tunnel edge, blue for the water and fresh green for the reeds. Keep the eggs cream or pale white. Trace the tunnel with your eyes before colouring so the path from the river entrance to the safe nest chamber remains clear.
