Guava Tree Rainy Colouring

Guava is a small tropical tree native to the Americas and now grown widely in warm regions. Common guava, Psidium guajava, often reaches about 3 to 10 metres. Its smooth bark can peel in thin patches, revealing cream, tan, pinkish or greenish areas. Pairs of oval leaves grow opposite each other, and their strong side veins are easy to recognize. White flowers have many fine stamens and attract insects. Round or pear-shaped fruit may ripen in rainy or warm seasons, depending on local climate and variety. The skin can be green or yellow, while the fragrant flesh may be white, pink or deep salmon. A healthy guava can live for roughly 30 to 40 years or more. Bees visit the flowers, birds such as parakeets peck ripe fruit, and fruit bats help move seeds through tropical landscapes. The page shows both a friendly parakeet and a small bat, along with blossoms, fruit, rain clouds and a puddle. Wildlife may share some fruit, but growers also harvest it for people. Wash guavas well and cut them with adult help. The many seeds are edible in common varieties, though anyone with dietary concerns should follow family guidance. Never disturb a resting bat, and avoid climbing wet branches after rain because bark and ground can be slippery. Colour the peeling trunk in patches of pale tan, cream, soft pink and olive grey. Give the leaves rich green tops and lighter undersides, following their strong veins with neat strokes. Guavas can be light green, golden yellow or yellow with a blush. If you imagine a cut fruit, use pink, cream or coral inside. Keep the flowers mostly white with warm yellow stamens. A parakeet can be green with blue wing tips and a coral beak. The fruit bat may be brown, golden or grey with darker folded wings. Use pale blue-grey for clouds, turquoise for the puddle and many fresh greens for the tropical plants. Gentle diagonal sky strokes can suggest recent rain without darkening the page. Colour fruit with rounded strokes and leave a small highlight. The completed scene should feel washed, bright and alive, showing how a rainy season brings fruit, flowers and visiting animals together.
