Great Pyramid Colouring Page

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one still standing largely intact. It rises on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, Egypt, beside two other famous pyramids. Ancient Egyptian builders created it as the royal tomb of Pharaoh Khufu during the Fourth Dynasty, about 4,500 years ago. Its original height was roughly 146.5 metres, making it the tallest human-made structure in the world for thousands of years. The pyramid was built mainly from enormous limestone blocks, with granite used in important inner spaces. Workers shaped, moved and carefully arranged millions of stones with impressive planning, measurement and teamwork. Inside are passages and chambers, including the King's Chamber and the Grand Gallery. The smooth outer casing stones that once made the pyramid shine have mostly disappeared, revealing the stepped blocks we see today. Archaeologists continue studying the site to learn more about its builders, tools and construction methods. This colouring scene places the giant pyramid at the centre, with two smaller pyramids behind it and a calm camel resting in the warm desert. Begin with sandy beige, pale gold or light ochre for the pyramid. You can colour each stone block separately, using two or three nearby shades to make the ancient structure look solid without becoming too dark. Try cream for sunlit stones and soft brown for the shaded edges. Colour the camel tan, caramel or chestnut, then add a darker brown mane, tail and hooves. Its saddle blanket can be bright red, blue, green or purple. Use golden yellow for the sun and very pale blue for the open sky. The distant pyramids can be slightly lighter than the main one to show that they are farther away. Add peach or orange near the horizon for a warm desert glow. Keep the sand light and use long, gentle strokes to suggest dunes. Most importantly, leave the bold outlines clear so the Great Pyramid remains the star of this friendly journey into ancient Egyptian history.
