Gorilla Baby Colouring

Share a quiet forest hug with a gentle adult gorilla and its baby. Gorillas are native to equatorial Africa, where western gorillas live in forests farther west and eastern gorillas live in central and eastern regions, including some high mountain habitats. Adult females often weigh about 70 to 100 kilograms, while a large adult male may reach 140 to 200 kilograms or more. Standing height is commonly around 1.4 to 1.8 metres. In the wild, gorillas may live for roughly 35 to 40 years, and some survive longer. Although their bodies are powerful, gorillas are usually calm plant eaters. They spend much of the day finding leaves, stems, fruit, and other vegetation. Family groups are often led and protected by a mature silverback male, while mothers keep young babies very close. A newborn clings to its mother's fur and later rides on her back while learning about the forest. Gorillas communicate with expressions, gestures, soft calls, chest beats, and many other sounds. This peaceful page shows the baby nestled safely inside strong arms, surrounded by an open clearing, broad plants, delicate ferns, distant tree trunks, and one fallen leaf. A natural gorilla may be coloured charcoal grey, dark brown, or black, with a lighter face, hands, chest, and feet. The baby can be a softer grey-brown so it is easy to distinguish. You might add a silvery patch to the adult's back if you imagine a protective male, or keep the coat evenly dark for a mother. Use several greens for the ferns and broad leaves, warm browns on tree trunks, and golden tan on the forest floor. Fantasy artists can create a gentle blue, purple, or moss-green gorilla family instead. Begin with light pressure, then build darker fur using short strokes that follow the body. Keep the face, fingers, and toes neat with coloured pencils, and use crayons on the larger arms and legs. A tiny white highlight in each eye will make the pair look warm and alert. Colour the baby after the adult so you can choose a shade that stands out. As you finish, notice how the curved arms form a safe circle around the infant and imagine the forest growing quiet around this tender family moment.
