Flamingo Preening Its Feathers Colouring Page

A flamingo stands in shallow water and turns its long neck back to preen the feathers along one folded wing. Its curved bill gently touches the layered plumage while its tall legs support the rounded body. A few ripples and simple reeds leave plenty of open space around the quiet grooming action. How to colour: Start with very light blush pink on the neck and body, then place salmon, coral and a little deep rose on separate rows of wing feathers so the layers remain clear. Add black to the longest hidden flight-feather tips. Colour the bill pale pink with a clean black end, the eye warm yellow with a dark pupil and the legs dusty rose. Use pale turquoise and light blue for the shallow water, blue-grey for a soft reflection, and olive plus emerald green for the reeds. Work one feather at a time from base to tip, use slightly darker colour where the bill meets the wing, and keep white slivers between some feathers for a neat, glossy finish.
