Discus Throw Colouring Page

Discus throw is a track-and-field event in which an athlete sends a round disc as far as possible into a marked landing area. Versions of discus throwing were part of athletics in ancient Greece, and the modern event is now enjoyed at school meets and international competitions. The athlete begins inside a circular ring. They hold the discus in one hand, turn smoothly to build momentum, and release it toward a wide fan-shaped sector. A legal throw must land inside that sector, and the athlete must stay in the circle until the discus has landed. Younger learners practise with light, age-appropriate discs before using heavier equipment. Good discus throwing is not just about strength. Balance, footwork, timing, a relaxed arm, and a safe, controlled release all work together. Because a flying discus can travel a long way, practice must happen with a trained adult, clear boundaries, and nobody standing in the landing zone. Athletes also wait for permission before collecting equipment and carry a discus instead of tossing it back. These habits teach patience, awareness, and respect for everyone sharing the field. In this colouring page, a cheerful child is beginning a turn inside the ring while a coach watches from safely behind the boundary. The open landing sector, flags, track edge, and wide throwing circle help explain where the action happens. Start by colouring the athlete's top and shorts in two bright team colours. Add a contrasting shade to the shoes and wristband. A real discus may be silver, bronze, black, red, blue, or another bold colour, so you can invent your own design. Try green for the grass, reddish brown for the track, and blue or yellow for the flags. Keep the circle pale grey or sandy beige so the dark outlines remain easy to see. You could colour the coach's clothes in calm colours and give the distant bushes several greens. Leave the clouds white or add a very light blue sky around them. Use smooth strokes on the large spaces, shorter strokes near fingers and shoe laces, and check that your colours stay inside the safety lines just as the athlete stays inside the circle.
