Christmas Postbox Colouring

A warmly dressed child has walked through the snow to post a special Christmas letter. One hand lifts the mailbox flap while the other guides the blank envelope safely through the opening. Snow rests on the curved box, the fence and the little fir tree, and two large snowflakes drift nearby. Look for the fluffy trim on the child's coat, count the fence posts and notice how the envelope points toward the dark mail slot. Posting a letter is a simple tradition that combines hope with responsibility: the child has finished a message, kept it safe and taken it to the correct place. The scene can prompt a chat about addresses, stamps and why a grown-up helps children send real mail. A bright red mailbox makes a classic Christmas focal point, but green, blue or purple can look wonderful too. Keep the snow cap mostly white and add pale blue only along its lower edge. Colour the envelope cream or very light yellow so it remains separate from the snow. The child's coat could be red with white trim, teal with silver trim or any cosy combination. Choose a matching hat and boots, then add a contrasting scarf. The fir tree can be dark green under its snow, while the fence might be natural brown or soft grey. Use gentle sideways crayon strokes for the snowy ground, leaving plenty of clean white space. Make the sky a pale winter blue, or create an evening scene by layering light blue, purple and navy without filling over the snowflakes. Younger artists can colour the large coat, mailbox and tree shapes first. Older children may add small knitted stripes to the scarf, wood grain to the fence and a soft shadow beneath the mailbox post. A tiny white highlight on the mailbox side can make painted metal appear shiny. Trace the route of the letter with your eyes and keep that area clear. Work slowly around mittens and the flap so the action remains easy to understand. When complete, the page should look crisp, hopeful and peaceful, like a kind Christmas message beginning its winter journey.
