Chimpanzee Baby Colouring

Play beside a fallen tree with an adult chimpanzee and an energetic baby. Chimpanzees are native to West and Central Africa, where they live in rainforests, woodland, and forest-savanna mosaics. Adults vary in size, but many weigh about 30 to 60 kilograms and stand roughly 1 to 1.7 metres tall when fully upright. In the wild, a chimpanzee often lives for around 33 to 40 years, and some reach older ages. Their long arms and grasping hands and feet are excellent for climbing, swinging, and moving carefully through branches. Chimpanzees live in flexible communities whose members gather in smaller groups that change through the day. Mothers form especially strong bonds with their babies. A young chimp rides on its mother's belly or back, watches everything she does, and learns through play and patient practice. Chimpanzees are clever tool users: different groups may use sticks to collect termites, stones to crack nuts, or leaves as sponges for water. The baby in this friendly scene balances on the fallen log while the adult watches close by. Ferns, broad leaves, grasses, and distant trees create a simple forest classroom. For natural colours, choose dark brown, charcoal, or black for the fur and lighter brown, tan, or peach for the face, ears, hands, and feet. The baby's coat can be slightly softer or warmer. Use small patches of grey around the adult's chin if you want to show an older animal. Colour the fallen trunk brown with golden rings and darker bark lines. Mix emerald, lime, and olive green across the leaves and ferns, and use a pale earthy colour on the clearing. Imaginative colourists can make the pair deep blue, violet, or sunset orange. Crayons will fill the large arms, legs, and log quickly, while pencils are useful around fingers, toes, smiles, eyes, and leaf edges. Short, feathery strokes can suggest fur, and long strokes can follow the wood grain. Keep a tiny white sparkle in both pairs of eyes. Try colouring the background more lightly than the chimpanzees so the family remains easy to see. When you finish, imagine what the baby is practising - balancing, reaching, or copying the adult - and celebrate how play helps young animals learn.
