Basketball Colouring Page

Basketball is a fast team game in which players try to throw a ball through a raised hoop. It was invented in 1891 by teacher James Naismith as an indoor activity for his students during winter. A standard game has two teams moving the ball by passing or dribbling, which means bouncing it while walking or running. A successful shot scores points, and the team without the ball defends without pushing or grabbing. Children can play simplified versions with lower hoops, smaller balls, fewer players, and shorter courts, making the sport welcoming for many ages and abilities. Useful basketball skills include dribbling with control, chest passing, catching with soft hands, shooting with balanced feet, and finding open space. Players wear flexible sports clothing and supportive shoes. Before a game, they should warm up, check that the court is dry, and make sure the hoop and surface are safe. During play, everyone keeps hands under control, avoids rough contact, and gives other players room to land after a jump. Teammates communicate, take turns, and celebrate good effort. A layup is a close shot taken after stepping toward the basket. It becomes easier when a learner moves slowly at first, looks at the target, and practises with an adult or coach. This colouring scene shows one smiling child lifting the ball for a layup while a teammate watches and gets ready for a pass or rebound. Colour the basketball orange or choose a playful bright shade, but keep the curved panel lines visible. The hoop rim can be orange-red, the net white with light blue shadows, and the backboard pale blue or grey. Pick two matching colours for the players’ simple uniforms, such as purple and yellow, green and white, or red and navy. Use warmer skin tones or any inclusive shades you like, and give the shoes colourful laces. The outdoor court could be tan, light grey, or turquoise with white lines. Add green bushes, a brown bench, and a soft blue sky. Press lightly in the clouds and leave some white highlights on the ball. Try darker colour near the edges of the uniforms and lighter colour in the middle to make the large shapes feel lively without hiding the clear outlines.
