American Redstart Pair Page

A male American Redstart spreads his wings and fan-shaped tail while catching tiny insects, and the female watches from a nearby slender forest branch. Colour the male black with glowing orange or red patches on his wings and tail. Give the female soft grey and olive feathers with yellow patches. Use light brown for the thin branches and several fresh greens for the simple leaves. The insects can be tiny blue, gold or brown accents. Begin with the open wings and tail so every feather section stays distinct, then colour the perched female and airy woodland details.
